In reading Candide I discovered that Candide is quite like myself. He finds humor in subjects that most humans can't see. Throughout my readings I uncovered the numerous comments that he made in contrast to certain topics such as the war, love, and science. For him to find the humor in these subjects was very bold in his time and took alot of courage. For this blatant display of disrespect to his country shows he had heart. That's the reason why I pick Candide as my favorite character.
